What is it about VITA that makes them strive for greatness by means of ineptitude? Strapped for cash, accused of charging agencies too much for services, and unable to reliably back up claims of saving money, they put forth yet more job openings for outlandish amounts of money.
Does a Help Desk Manager really need to be making $132,000 a year? Not even a Help Desk manager, actually, but a manager of the NG manager of the Help Desk. Talk about government waste! VITA has a bunch of Executives already. Can't they manage anything? Do they have to have a seperate executive for every piddly little task? SMO for Door Opening. SMO for Door Closing. SMO for SMO Memo-taking. Sheesh! Have someone work a full 40 hour week like the rest of us, and buy some new servers with the leftover salary.
Anyone want to buy my $200 hammer on eBay?

Speaking of government waste, check out:

It's sad, really. And an outrage.
The webpage for the job says that the hiring range is only up to $115,000. It would take a number of years for a person hired into this position to reach $132,000, assuming raises continue to average around three percent a year for classified employees.
Oh, well then, that's ok. $115,000 is a reasonable amount to make for managing a manager. Why, you can hardly make ends meet at $115,000...
So, is this target now a moving one? :)
The person hired won't necessarily receive the maximum available salary.

i would say it probably depends on who they know...
I think my concern is that VITA thinks these positions are even needed. Whether they make $115,000 or $80,000, these SMO related positions are fluff. Fluff that the Commonwealth can't afford.
Just wondering... did they fill these positions? What are they doing?
No idea, although the positions are no longer open.
