State of Apathy

Once again Virginia.gov fails to notice that a state of emergency was declared. This is something like the third time in a row, isn't it? And this time it's been over two DAYS since the emergency was declared, with no updates.

On the up side, we can learn all about the state bat on the homepage. Well worth $4 million a year.

This is actually strangely common behavior. Take Hawaii, for example. They get hit by an earthquake, landslides, and storms. Honolulu is without power. But does the state take advantage of the power of the internet to keep the world informed? Nope (on the other hand, at least their disaster recovery plan worked. The site stayed up).

The root of the problems seems to be a fundamental problem with understanding how to use the Internet.
